The Book of Demnos!

---By Sean Conner ChD KSC---

The dank and musky odour of pure horror is an unforgettable scent.
One that even now I try to forget, for no sane person would believe the tale I have to tell. I swear to you Sir, each word is the Lord’s honest truth for even Lucifer himself could not dream of such sights as I have seen.

It was on the Eve of Beltane when I first perchanced upon the book, it was an ancient looking tome with binding the sable colour of wrought iron. A sigil of some manner was emblazoned upon the cover and I should have known what lie in waiting.

The language of this blasphemous breviary and the script with which it was written was unlike any language known to the annals of glottological studies; indeed even the curvature of the very characters themselves hinted of the demonic nature of this manuscript.

Now although I could not read them, nor could I speak the sibilation of this eerie language I found myself speak the, dare I call them “words” and a sense of pure violation overtook me. It was as if I was being psychically molested and could do nothing to stop it. Phrase upon phrase flowed forth from my lips, I the marionette of some unholy puppeteer. I was being overtaken.

I found myself, knife in hand awake alongside what once was a young lady, her body now nothing more than a horrible unrecognisable pile of flesh and gore. I swear to you Sir, that I have no knowledge of what you accuse me of for I myself was horrified to find this situation placed upon me. You must believe me when I tell you that it was not I who committed this unspeakable act, it was the book; that dreadful book..

I know Sir, that you have told me that there was no book to be found at the scene however I must strongly and most firmly proclaim my innocence. I swear to you, I did not do those horrible things which I am found guilty of. I PLEAD WITH YOU SIR; IT WAS NOT ME…GOD IN HEAVEN PLEASE!!………NOOOO!………….

**With that the trapdoor was released and the accused, being hung by the neck was dispatched**

**In the crowd a young man watching the spectacle looks over his shoulder at the bookshop window and spies the most interesting book he had ever seen**
